Kinder Orientation Reminder

Welcome to Maʻemaʻe Elementary! The new school year will be starting soon. Please carefully read through our reminders and updates.

  • Monday, 7/24: Class lists will be posted outside of the school office each weekday 7am-4pm

  • Monday, 8/7: Kindergarten Parent Orientation (details below)

During the first week of school Kindergarten students will be divided into two groups:


Group A = students with last name beginning with A-L

Group B = students with last name beginning with M-Z

  • Tuesday, 8/8: Group A ONLY half-day, 7:55am-12pm

  • Wednesday, 8/9: Group B ONLY half-day, 7:55am-12pm

  • Thursday, 8/10: Group A ONLY full-day, 7:55am-2:15pm

  • Friday, 8/11: Group B ONLY full-day, 7:55am-2:15pm

  • Monday, 8/14: Begin regular full-day schedule for Kindergarten students

PARENT ORIENTATION/SUPPLY DROP OFF - MONDAY, AUGUST 7th

8:30am - Parking will open for Kindergarten parents on the big field. See our school map.

8:45am - Report to child’s classroom. Room assignments will be available July 24.

  • Please bring school supplies. Label each item with your child’s name.

  • Space is limited, please send only ONE PARENT; NO CHILDREN are allowed.

  • Orientation will run about 90 minutes.

  • There are no make ups.

MEAL INFORMATION AND APPLICATION

Deposits to your child’s meal account can be made at EZSchoolPay.com or in-person at the school office. See the EZ School Pay How To Guide to get started.


Families eligible for free and reduced-priced meals can apply online at EZMealApp.com . Type “Hawaii” in Search for District, select "DOE - Honolulu, Central, ... " to get started.


AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Please see attached list of afterschool programs. An updated list will be provided at Kindergarten Orientation.


DOE COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDANCE

  • Mask wearing is optional.

  • “Stay home when sick” applies more generally to when someone has symptoms of illness; not just COVID-19.

  • Physical distancing is no longer a mitigation strategy.

  • When someone tests positive for COVID-19, notification will no longer be sent to staff and parents unless there is a suspected cluster of cases or outbreak. Positive cases are publicly reported online.
