Payments for the school meal program can be made in the school office between 7:30 and 4:00 p.m. OR by clicking on the button above and completing payment online. If paying in the school office, please pay by cash or check (made payable to Department of Education).

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
Unless directly certified, households must submit a new Free & Reduced Meal application yearly. You may apply online at ezmealapp.com. Online applications are processed within 24 hours. You also have the option to turn in a paper application to the office. Paper applications have a 10 day processing period once it is received by School Food Service. Once an application is processed, a benefit letter will be sent home with your child.
You are responsible for meal charges incurred while waiting for an approval. If a student qualified for free or reduced meals the previous school year, the student is given a grace period of 30 operating days from the start of the new school year to reapply. During the grace period, a student's previous year's meal eligibility will remain in place. However, when a new application is processed, the new eligibility determination will supersede the grace period eligibility. If applications are not received and processed before the grace period ends, a student's meal status
will turn to PAID.
Households with an incoming sibling will need to re-apply to add the sibling to the application in order to qualify for the same benefit.
Identification Card
Maʻemaʻe School has a prepayment meal program whereby each student has a meal account and is issued an identification card with name, barcode, room number and picture to be used to scan for meal purchases and general campus identification purposes. Each student is issued one free ID card. If lost or damaged, purchase a replacement card for $5.00 at the office.
Meal Account Payments
You can create an ONLINE student account at ezschoolpay.com to make payments, set low balance alerts, and review meal accounts. You will need your child's birthdate to register. Otherwise, a DROP BOX is
located in the office for cash or check (made payable to Department of Education or DOE) deposits only. Deposits made before 8:30 am will be credited the same day. Deposits are not accepted in the cafeteria. Receipts will be given to the student through their homeroom teacher. The Department of Education's (DOE) fee policy on returned checks is $25 per-check, payable in cash and no further checks will be accepted from the check writer for the remainder of the year.
Negative Balance
When a student meal account reaches a negative balance, the office will send a pink reminder notice home with the student and an automated evening phone call will be generated requesting the parent to deposit
money into their child's account. Students with negative balances exceeding $17.50 and $2.80 for reduced meals will be denied a meal until the negative balance is cleared. Students with no balance in their account may not purchase milk.
End of Year
Negative balances must be cleared before the last day of school. If students are returning to Maʻemaʻe School next year or are transferring to another Hawaii public school, their meal balance will follow them. If
students are not returning to a Hawaii public school next year, then they should complete and turn in a LUNCH ACCOUNT REQUEST form to the office to request a refund, transfer funds to another Maʻemaʻe student or donate to the school volunteer fund.
