Ma'ema'e Summer Program: Week 2

Summer School

What a wonderful start to our 2022 summer program! This week, students settled into their new classrooms and dove right into action packed days filled with learning and fun activities. We hope your children are enjoying themselves and we can't wait for the weeks to come!

4th grade students created bookmarks as they started reading "Island of the Blue Dolphins" this week, and spent some time outdoors working in pairs to complete an A-Z nature scavenger hunt.

Above, 1st graders pose after completing a hands-on pronoun activity together. 1st and 2nd grade students smile as they enjoy their lunch on the lawn. Below are some of the creative ki‘i pōhaku (Hawaiian petroglyphs) that kindergarteners painted to depict their own unique stories!

Enrichment Program

This week in visual arts class, 3rd and 4th graders designed some "name art," where they concealed the letters of their names within abstract designs! Students also enjoyed some outdoor time while working on their detailed yarn weaving projects.

1st graders created these colorful and collapsable origami fans in Japanese class while 2nd graders sculpted a variety of hand-made clay figurines in arts and crafts class!
